ORLANDO, Fla. (WSVN) – A lesson plan that included having students write their own obituaries has cost a psychology teacher his job at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando.Jeffrey Keene, said there was going to be an active shooter drill at the school and thought he could tie it into a lesson about safety and reflection on what’s important. Keene asked the students, “If they died 24 hours from now, what would they do differently than they did yesterday?” During his first-period class, a student got upset and asked to speak to a counselor, shortly after a supervisor came to observe his lecture during the second period.“I put a disclaimer on the bottom of the lesson saying this is in no way to upset you,” Keen said. He tried to example himself to the supervisor but was shut down. Keene said his intention was never to stress his students out. “When they said you have the option to resign without violating your contract, I said, ‘I didn’t do anyt...Jeremy Renner says he wrote his ‘last words’ to his family after snowplow accident

EDMONTON, Alberta (WSVN) — The internet has gone crazy over the adorable love story of two dogs named Rollo and Sadie. Despite living miles apart, the two have been able to maintain their strong bond through weekly FaceTime calls. The duo met during the pandemic when their owners, who were living in separate apartments in the same house in Edmonton, Canada, introduced them to each other. Sadie, a husky and German Shepard mix, immediately fell in love with Rollo, a rottweiler shepherd mix, and the two have been inseparable ever since.“Sadie’s never been the biggest fan of other dogs when she met Rollo she whined and cried and laid on her back like she’d just met the love of her life,” said Kayla McTeer, Sadie’s owner. When Rollo’s owner had to move three hours away for a job opportunity, the two dogs were left heartbroken, but their weekly video calls keep their friendship alive. FREEPORT, Bahamas (AP) — Tereha Davis, whose family has fished for conch from waters around the Bahamas for five generations, remembers when she could walk into the water from the beach and pick up the marine snails from the seabed. But in recent years, Davis, 49, and conch fishers like her have had to go further and further from shore – sometimes as far as 30 miles – to find the mollusks that Bahamians eat fried, stewed, smoked and raw and are a pillar of the island nation’s economy and tourism industry.Scientists, international conservationists and government officials have sounded the alarm that the conch population is fading due to overfishing, and a food central to Bahamians’ diet and identity could cease to be commercially viable in as little as six years.“When I was a child, we never had to go that far to get conch,” said Davis, speaking at a Freeport market where she sold her catch. “Without conch, what are we supposed to do?”Conch’s potential demise reflect...European Commission signals game over for China investment deal

We started negotiations round about 10 years ago and concluded the comprehensive agreement on investment two years ago. A lot has happened since then,” she said, including deterioration in market access for EU companies in the Chinese market.Von der Leyen had made similar comments last week in a keynote speech on China in Brussels, saying the EU needs to “reassess” the pact.“Our position is that we do have to reassess the Comprehensive Agreement...State police investigating fatal crash on I-495 in Mansfield
