REGINA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be in Saskatchewan today to sell the Liberal government’s new budget.Trudeau is to visit a Regina grocery store and meet with families and employees to discuss the budget’s grocery rebate.He is also to make an announcement on measures to make life more affordable for Canadians.Later in the day, Trudeau is to meet with students and other community members.The Prime Minister will not be meeting with Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe during his stop in the province. Moe’s office was notified in advance that Trudeau would be in Regina but the two leaders weren’t able to meet due to scheduling constraints, the premier’s office said. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A San Francisco supervisor says an arrest was made early Thursday in the downtown stabbing death of Cash App founder Bob Lee.San Francisco Board President Aaron Peskin said the suspect was apprehended in Emeryville, a San Francisco suburb. He was not told the suspect’s name. San Francisco police did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Police found Lee with stab wounds in the Rincon Hill neighborhood of San Francisco at 2:30 a.m. April 4. CHICAGO — The first of two funerals for Chicago firefighters who died in the line-of-duty last week happened Thursday.Lieutenant Jan Tchoryk was laid to rest following services at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Church on the city's Far Northwest Side. Hundreds attended his funeral.Last Wednesday, the 26-year veteran of the department collapsed while responding to a fire in the 1200 block of North Lake Shore Drive at a Gold Coast high-rise. The fire was on the 27th-floor and the elevators were out. Firefighters had to use the stairs to get to the fire.A short time later, a mayday response was called for a firefighter down. Fallen Chicago Fire Department lieutenant remembered during visitation services The Chicago Fire Department said Lt. Jan Tchoryk was making his way up the stairs when he went down at the 11th floor. He was rushed by colleagues to the lobby where life-saving measures were performed. CHICAGO — A death investigation is underway after the body of a man was recovered from Lake Michigan near the city's Columbus Street Bridge in Chicago's Loop, according to police. COLUMBUS, Ohio (WJW) – A teen reported missing in July 2022 was found this week with a 41-year-old man in Columbus, Ohio. According to a release from the U.S. Marshals Service, authorities had been working with Cuyahoga County Job and Family Services since the 14-year-old girl was reported missing on July 9, 2022, in Garfield Heights, Ohio. CHICAGO — Two girls, ages 16 and 13, were arrested in connection with a string of armed robberies and carjacking one victim at gunpoint on Chicago's South Side. According to Chicago police, the teen girls robbed multiple victims in less than 40 minutes across Auburn Gresham and Chatham on Wednesday. The first incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. in the 8700 block of S. Aberdeen St. in Auburn Gresham. About 15 minutes later, another robbery occurred around 1:55 p.m. in the same block. 12-year-old boy shot on Chicago’s South Side The third incident, reported just before 2:20 p.m., happened in the 400 block of W. 81st St. in Chatham. The juvenile offenders were taken into custody shortly thereafter in the 400 block of W. 81st Street.Both are charged with one felony count of carjacking at gunpoint and armed robbery.
